  • The Easter Bunny is a character with human characteristics depicted as a rabbit. In legend, the creature brings baskets filled with colored eggs, candy and toys to the homes of children on the night before Easter. The Easter Bunny will either put the baskets in a designated place or hide them somewhere in the house for the children to find when they wake up in the morning. The Easter Bunny brings gifts to good children on the night before their respective holiday. 
  • It can be traced to the German fertility goddess Ēostre.

Eostre is a Germanic goddess whose Anglo-Saxon monthĒostur-monath, has given its name to the Christian festival of Easter. =
  • Also, related, is the Germanic goddess called Austrōn, reflecting the name of the Proto-Indo-European goddess of the dawn. She brings light to the night sky and awakes the  early sun. As a love goddess, she is also called Wenos "lust" She is the "early morning" on this first day of Lent.
